2022 POETRY MARATHON

The Brown Girl Poetry Marathon will take place October 1st. The marathon will start at 12 PM ET on the 1st and end to 12 AM ET on the 2nd of October.
General Registration for all participants will be open until September 29th. $100

WHAT TO EXPECT
Each hour you will be presented with a word or phrase to use in your poem.

The chat will be monitored to the entire time to take questions and provide support.
The submission portal will be opened at 1:00am on October 2nd.
This event is for all Brown Girls of all ages!
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All Submissions must be made via the www.BrownGirlGuideBooks.com
Maximum twelve submissions per person.
Please submit all your poems separately.
Send us only your best. We will be extremely selective.
Expect 4-6 weeks for a response.
Submssion Deadline October 31st @ 11:59pm
DO NOT EMAIL SUBMISSIONS
All poems submitted must be written during the 2022 Brown Girl Poetry Marathon and include the word or phrase of the hour.
All poems should be completely edited and as much as possible contain no major grammatical errors.
Revisions are allowed and encouraged before submitting. Please check your punctuation.
All poems should be single spaced. Any extra space will probably be interpreted as a stanza break.
The first word of every line should not have a capitalization unless it is intentional!
You must indicate which hour each poem was written.
Only poets who completed the whole marathon will be eligible to receive an honorary Brown Girl Certificate of completion.
There is no guarantee that by submitting your poem will be selected, although the goal is to include one poem by everyone who submits.
After the poems are published in the anthology all rights return to you.
Discount Digital Copies will be made available to all contributors. Print copies will be available via Amazon and other major platforms.
